Alone on the Road — Part two - Packing

Image
How to Lighten Your Suitcase?         Today I am going to write to you about two kinds of packing. The first is the ordinary kind: whether you pack in a backpack or a suitcase. The second is the kind that includes everything else. You may find it interesting when you read what I mean by everything else. Let’s begin. Suitcase or Backpack Once you have chosen your destination, packing begins. First of all, and perhaps most importantly — if you do not want to pay someone to carry your luggage, and if you truly want to feel the freedom of solo travel, you will have to reduce what you bring with you. And also what you bring it in. A backpack has its advantages. Your hands are free. You can hold a map, or rather Google Maps, or a takeaway coffee while you explore. You can move through the airport without checking in a suitcase. Like a little snail carrying its home on its back. You are faster. More practical, somehow. But a backpack is still pro level if y...

Alone on the Road — Part One

Image
How I Took  Myself on Vacation  for the First Time There are only a few hours left before I leave. I am looking at my almost-packed suitcase and two cats sitting curiously on top of it. In front of me is the notebook where, for years, I have been writing down my thoughts and learning who I am. Tonight, I am going on vacation. Alone. My thoughts return to a year ago, when I was sitting just like this, waiting for the time to leave — the same, and yet completely different. What has changed since then? Me. I have changed. My first solo vacation was a collection of questions and smaller questions, most of them tied to my safety. I searched frantically online, looking for answers to that big, echoing question: What if…? And do you know what happened out of all my worst predictions? Nothing. That is why I now feel the need to share my experience with you. Travel is beautiful. Sometimes, we are truly privileged to take the most important person in our life with us. Ourselves. ...

Do You Still Dream Big Dreams? A Story About Change, Fear, and Finding Your Path

Image
Do You Still Dream Big Dreams? Recently, I asked myself a question. Do I still dream big dreams? Maybe it’s a question you carry within you too. Not loudly. Not every day. But it’s there. In those moments when you step onto a path you don’t recognize. A new job. A new role. A new world. A quiet question, somewhere behind awareness, appears: How did I end up here? Why did I leave what I knew? Why did I step out of what felt safe? Why am I here? In a world of technology. Social media. Artificial intelligence. In a world where we are no longer “secretaries,” but “virtual assistants,” “administrative assistants,” “operations assistants”… Where writing is no longer just writing, but “content creation,” “copywriting,” “creative writing,” storytelling… And I admit — sometimes it confuses me. Because these are not just new titles. It is a new language. And I learned it later. But then I pause. And I remember… How many times have I already been at the beginning? How many times have I ...

What Comes After the Decision

Image
After the decision I wrote about here Is This the Right Job for Me? , something quietly began to shift. And so I stepped onto the uncertain path of the author. Of the creator who has something to say, something to tell. With only a vague idea of how — and to whom. Surrounded by new technologies I don’t quite swim in. And if we add to that a generation that remembers vinyl records and cassette tapes, it becomes clear how high the wall between me and my goal really is. Obstacles Am I a normal woman? Why do I even need all this? Instagram doesn’t work the way it used to. What is digital marketing anyway? What does e-mail marketing even mean? I was taught with paper, pencil, and the phone. The landline. And so, sitting by that wall, crying and grieving the beautiful job I had so wildly turned down, a thought appeared. Like a signpost that catches your eye. A Dream Each of us carries dreams. In the moments when meaning slips away from our lives, we begin to ignore them. Sometimes we...

Is This the Right Job for Me?

Image
Is This the Right Job for Me? A few days ago, a beautiful ad popped up on Instagram. They were looking for a part-time collaborator for a self-development platform. — Like a piece of candy , I thought immediately. And I already started spinning all the possibilities connected to that job… But then— — …but if you accept it, when will you write? — Who was that? I wondered. Maybe I imagined it? Hm, this job really is great… — You won’t be able to travel to Veloria anymore… — the little voice was persistent. Veloria A magical, white city I invented. In an invented land. A kingdom, of course. A city that embraced me as a place of justice, comfort, and love. A book that has seen the light of day on Amazon. I am already writing the second part. At that moment, I stopped and said: — No. You will no longer be useful. You are creative. Usefulness or creativity? At some point in life, we reach that remarkable maturity. We stop learning through other people’s systems. Other p...
